Drugs have the awesome power to convince people of a whole lot of bullshit, and here's one example. At one time, fiber artists who operated within the trippy, colorful, and sometimes melty landscape known as the counterculture tried to convince us that tie-dye could be "high fashion."
Even some recent designers have shown tie-dyed stuff on the runway, but they call it "ombre."
I kind of like it, even if thinking of tie-dye as high fashion makes about as much sense as believing the Cheetos you are eating are on a par with the $55 truffled macaroni and cheese from Waverly Inn.
(The guy has an uncanny resemblance to Jason Lee from "My Name is Earl.")
